The BuniBatz Project ist das persönliche Soloprojekt des Frankfurter Musikers, Produzenten, Multiinstrumentalisten und Bassisten der Frankfurter Band REKORDER Cheech Martin, der seit über drei Jahrzehnten in der internationalen Musikszene aktiv ist. Der Ansatz ist klar: Musik, die keine Grenzen kennt – weder stilistisch noch emotional. Das Album "Number One“ bündelt diese Vision und vereint elektronische Strukturen, organische Klangschichten und Gesangsstile verschiedenster Gastkünstler zu einem kohärenten, eigenständigen Werk.
Cheech begann seine musikalische Reise in einer Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Bands und Projekten, in denen er stilprägende Erfahrungen sammeln konnte. Dazu zählen Los Lobos (Flamenco), PYRE, Flanger, the Clinch, 3ling, Crowd of Evolution und REKORDER. Jede dieser Stationen brachte eigene Einflüsse, musikalische Perspektiven und kreative Inspirationen mit sich – von Flamenco über energiegeladenem Alternative Rock bis hin zu elektronischen Welten.
Ein prägender Moment seiner Laufbahn war das Jahr 2004, als er mit seiner Band Flanger als Support für Adlers Appetite auf Europatournee ging – der Band des legendären Steven Adler, dem ersten Schlagzeuger von Guns N’ Roses. Die mehrwöchige Tour führte nicht nur durch die wichtigsten Bühnen des Kontinents, sondern begründete auch enge, bis heute bestehende Freundschaften innerhalb der L.A.-Musikszene.
Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Musiker gründete Cheech 2009 das Musiklabel „Rocksoul Music“. Ein Jahr später erfüllte er sich mit dem Abschluss Bachelor of Arts im Bereich Tontechnik (2010) den langjährigen Traum eines eigenen Tonstudios: den Rocksoul Music Studios. Hier entstanden und entstehen zahlreiche Produktionen – darunter die Alben von The Clinch, und Teile der Werke von 3ling, Crowd of Evolution sowie REKORDER.
Durch die über Jahre gewachsenen und gepflegten Kontakte verfügt Cheech heute über ein außergewöhnlich breites Netzwerk an Künstlern, Produzenten und Session-Musikern in Europa und den USA. Dieses Netzwerk fließt direkt in die musikalische Vielfalt und Tiefe seiner aktuellen Produktionen ein.
The BuniBatz Project ist damit nicht nur ein Solo-Projekt, sondern ein langfristig gewachsenes Kollektiv aus Ideen, Freundschaften und musikalischen Experimenten – verbunden durch Cheechs Vision, Musik greifbar, ehrlich und grenzenlos zu gestalten. den hier wird Musik erschaffen, die sich entwickelt, Raum lässt und im besten Sinne frei bleibt.

The BuniBatz Project is the personal solo project of Frankfurt-based musician, producer, Multi-instrumentalist and bass player for the band REKORDER Cheech Martin, who has been active on the International music scene for over three decades. The approach is clear: music that knows no boundaries—neither stylistic nor emotional. The album “Number One” embodies this vision and combines electronic structures, organic sound layers, and vocal styles from a wide variety of guest artists into a coherent, independent work.
Cheech began his musical journey in a variety of different bands and projects, where he gained formative experiences. These include Los Lobos (flamenco), PYRE, Flanger, the Clinch, 3ling, Crowd of Evolution and REKORDER. Each of these stages brought its own influences, musical perspectives, and creative inspirations – from flamenco to energetic alternative rock to electronic worlds.
A defining moment in his career came in 2004, when he went on a European tour with his band Flanger as support for Adler's Appetite – the band of the legendary Steven Adler, the first drummer of Guns N' Roses. The tour, which lasted several weeks, not only took them to the most important stages on the continent, but also forged close friendships within the L.A. music scene that continue to this day.
In addition to his work as a musician, Cheech founded the music label “Rocksoul Music” in 2009.
A year later, after completing his Bachelor of Arts degree in sound engineering (2010), he fulfilled his long-standing dream of owning his own recording studio: Rocksoul Music Studios. Numerous productions have been and continue to be created here, including albums by The Clinch and parts of the works of 3ling, Crowd of Evolution as well as REKORDER.
Thanks to the contacts he has cultivated over the years, Cheech now has an exceptionally broad network of artists, producers, and session musicians in Europe and the USA. This network flows directly into the musical diversity and depth of his current productions.
The BuniBatz Project is therefore not just a solo project, but a collective of ideas, friendships, and musical experiments that has grown over many years—connected by Cheech's vision of making music tangible, honest, and boundless. Here, music is created that evolves, leaves room for interpretation, and remains free in the best sense of the word.
